Barber-Nichols Inc. (BNI) has been awarded a five-year contract potentially valued at $42.9 Million with options for the manufacture of MK 48 Heavyweight Torpedo alternators and regulators. BNI’s employees and management are proud that the U.S. Navy is confident that we can successfully deliver this mission-critical hardware and the award of this multi-year contract allows Barber-Nichols to maximize production efficiencies in support of the U.S. Navy’s long-term strategic needs.
In support of this program, Barber-Nichols is building an advanced UUV (Unmanned Underwater Vehicle) power system manufacturing, test, and production facility and is working with other Colorado companies to build the required industrial base; supporting Colorado colleges and universities to educate the required engineers, machinists, and technicians; and partnering with economic development organizations to train its workforce and advance Colorado as a center for high-tech manufacturing.
BNI has more than 40 years of experience engineering and manufacturing specialty turbomachinery for use by the U.S. Navy and we look forward to maintaining this tradition well into the future.
